Style Analysis
Onesies
I was a huge fan of American Apparel for years, and their essential pieces work their way into most outfits one way or another.
For example, the tricot bodysuit is an absolute cornerstone for a variety of looks.
I have one in white and black (still wish I had more.)
They’re great because they’re endlessly versatile, comfortable, and very sexy with the thonged bottom.
Even though American Apparel went bankrupt, you can re-create AA vibes with one of these similar bodysuits:
Disco & Lace
Even more sexy are the disco shorts (also American Apparel) I picked up more recently in a new and recycled fashion store in NYC during my visit in October.
The bralette from VS Pink is also very useful for layering, a method I used here to add texture to my look.
Denim Jacket
My American Eagle denim jacket is one of those exciting thrift store finds where you just feel like a garment was meant for you.
It fit’s like a glove and adds a cool and laid-back vibe to any look.
A good denim jacket is also great to tie around your waist circa 1990’s fashion as seen above.
Thigh Highs
Lacy thigh-highs speak for themselves – the point of this detail is to make a statement.
I find them very comfortable and the lace trim is lined with an adhesive that holds them in place – genius!
I don’t know the brand of these but I picked them up at Target, you might find some there, or here:
Backpack, Meet Bucket Bag
The shoulder strap on this bag unzips to become a backpack.
Nifty right? I thought so too.
Not super thrilled about having to use the drawstring every time I want to open or close the bag though.
Shades & Earrings
The big black shades are Betsey Johnson and I have been wearing them literally to death (RIP)
I have a few new statement sunnies coming in the mail soon because I really do need to change it up.
And although they’re hardly visible in the picture, I love the gaudy gold door-knocker earrings and I think everyone should own a pair.
‘Tis the season for Ankle Boots!
My new Steve Madden boots are comfortable and cute but understated enough that they’ve become a frequent staple in my daily wardrobe.
I especially like the wide ankle on these boots, I find they’re slimming on the calves.
This is just a preview of my love affair with boots, stay tuned for more boot love.
