One High Waist Trouser Style Every Woman Needs In Her Closet

High Waist Trousers Review

One style I have in my wardrobe that never fails to get compliments is these ruffled high waist trousers (luckily, I have them in three colors!)

I put together this quick review due in part because, frankly, you guys were asking for it in my Instagram comments.

The dirty truth is, I got these women’s trousers on Amazon from a retailer called Simplee Apparel, and I don’t know whether the retailer even has an IG page to tag!

I’m not denying that my Amazon clothes shopping has gotten out of hand, but only because it’s such a convenient way to shop for fashion basics that make a statement.

It lets me be experimental with new silhouettes without splurging for a purchase from a major brand.

Not to mention I hate to repeat an outfit, and shopping in this way helps maintain versatility in my wardrobe.

Ruffled High Waist Trousers

Let me just say, these pants make my butt look FANTASTIC, but the benefits don’t stop there.

These ruffled waist trousers hit at just the right place to accent a crop top, perfectly accent a bodysuit, and they even flatter a button up shirt tucked snugly into the waistband.

And that means, you guessed it, these pants fit right in to the business casual female dress code!

It’s a tough style category to have fun with, but these pants are somehow both work appropriate AND extremely cute.

So I figured what better direction to go with this post than to also show you different recommendations for tops to go with it?

*shrugs*

What can I say, the world needs me.

So here we go:

Try Ruffle Trousers with a Crop Top

Ah yes, the classic high waist pants and a crop top combination.

These look particularly slimming with a crop top because of the way the waistband flares outward, giving the illusion of a smaller waist.

I also like the way the soft, rounded edges contrast against the angularity of my baby ab muscles – Don’t underestimate the power of these kinds of aesthetic details.

Bodysuit, Meet Ruffle Waist Pants

Another classic complement for high-waisted pants is a onesie that gives the illusion of a tightly tucked shirt (without the need for constant adjustments.)

Bodysuits are so popular these days, you can get them with long sleeves and high necklines for a conservative look, or just as easily choose a low-cut version for sex appeal.

Either way, you’re gonna turn heads in these statement pants.

Pair High Waist Ruffle Pants with a Button Up Blouse

Ah yes, the ever versatile and always essential button up shirt.

While it’s not such a fun top piece, you almost certainly already have it in your closet, and I promise you that it will take on new life when worn with these pants.

Again, the ruffled waistband has a softening effect that can even make a crisp, masculine button up look girly.

You also have the option here to unbutton the bottom 2 or 3 buttons and tie up the blouse, but beware of too many bows if you tie the belt in the same way.

Maybe skip the belt entirely if you want to tie the shirt into a bow – You have options, you should explore them!

The Bottom Line with Ruffled Waist Pants

Do I recommend this pant style? Absolutely.

As far as the exact pants I have from Amazon, they’re not perfect, but they are decent quality for $20.

Minor Complaints

  • That is, the material is very thin and easily shows a visible panty line if you don’t wear a thong (or just skip the underwear entirely, I won’t judge you.) This also means they’re not suitable for winter weather.
  • The leg length is also a bit awkward for me, neither long enough to be considered a pant or short enough to be considered a capri, I guess they fall under the description of clam-diggers?
  • And despite what the description says, the material doesn’t have much stretch to it, so they can become a bit too tight around my calves if I try to show more leg.

Other than these small things though, I’m pretty satisfied with the quality of the product for the price.

Your Thoughts

Would you buy a cheap piece of no-name brand clothing to taste-test a style, or would you rather just go all-in with a high-quality purchase from the get-go?

Your answer to that question might depend on this question:

Do you think the ruffled high waist pant style will be a passing trend, or a wardrobe staple I can wear for years to come?
