Since opening up on Fairfax Avenue in September, Dolls Kill has shown itself to be so much more than just another fast-fashion e-commerce store.
I mean, the Dolls Kill brand has always been a little ‘out there’ (in the best possible way) and so I wasn’t all too surprised to find these guys know how to throw a party.
My Halloween party invitation must have went to the spam folder, but Emilee told me it was coming up and I was still able to RSVP in time.
I knew if the scene at the Dolls Kill LA model casting was any indication, the Dolls Kill Halloween Party wouldn’t be one to miss.
Needless to say, I was not disappointed.
I arrived late, as I so often do these days, but they let me right in. And what a sight to behold… Dolls Kill literally transformed their storefront into a nightclub!
I spotted Emilee and Marco in seconds, and poured myself a cocktail from one of the several open bottles there for the taking on the upper level.
To hear the DJ booth pumping electronic trance and see the stunning, interesting costumes of the Dolls Kill crowd in the mix was more than enough to get me in the spirit.
My last-minute Halloween costume this year was none other than Elle Driver, an assassin disguised as a nurse from the movie Kill Bill.
One naughty nurse costume plus a customized eye-patch is all it took to bring it to life.
The eye patch was the tough part: I thought I’d get a white eye patch and draw on a red cross, but all I could find was black. (Thankfully, my friend had the brilliant idea to use electrical tape, and it worked out perfectly.)
By the end of the night I found myself at Madame Siam, one of the Houston Brothers‘ most popular speakeasy-style bars, where I was approached by a couple to join them for a threesome (which I graciously declined. Freaky nights, eh?!)
Then we danced and danced…
‘Til my phone battery got dangerously low and I decided to call it a night. After convincing my Uber driver to take my through the Taco Bell drive through, I finally made it home.
Burrito in hand, I sauntered into the living room at oh, around 2 AM, and spent another hour chatting with my roommates and exchanging stories from the evening.
It fell on a Wednesday this year, but this sort of thing doesn’t seem to phase creative types…
At least not in LA where it’s-a-party, it’s-a-party, it’s-a-party somewhere.
All in all, a Halloween for the books, and a lovely night out in the city – I love you Los Angeles, thank you!
