summer beauty hacks: 7 tricks for staying cute (even when it’s hot as hell outside)

2.) Mineral-based Foundation (instead of Oil-based)

Oil-based makeup will melt in the sun and surf, and even if you spend your day indoors you can end up looking greasy. I tried mineral-based foundations years ago, specifically Sheercover Makeup, and I’ve never looked back since. Its much lighter and easier to layer than oil-based makeup, it makes my skin look and feel soft and perfect, it photographs phenomenally, and it’s even got SPF 15 in there too. Particularly, I love the way this foundation wears throughout the day. I’ve tested a few others and I know that mineral makeup can be dry and aging, but this particular product neutralizes the extra oil on my skin without drying it.

I bought this all-star product directly from Sheercover for a long time, but I must admit that the customer service with Sheercover was very bad. For one thing, you can’t order the product by itself, you have to order a kit and put your account on a credit card so that they can send automatic refill shipments. It’s so expensive when you have to buy a whole kit, and a little bit of Sheercover mineral foundation goes a long way, so automatic shipments are really unnecessary. Then one day, I discovered that Sheercover cosmetics are also available from Amazon. Now, I can get a great product without dealing with it’s company’s terrible customer service. Win-win!
